I wrote a letter to my future self and learned a few things along the way.

As I step into my thirties, my goal is to lead a more intentional and purposeful life. Writing a letter to my future self helped me to articulate my vision for the next five years and anchored my belief in my ability to accomplish my goals.

More importantly, it became a landing post or a checkpoint where I can stop, reflect and reassess whether I am genuinely aligned with my purpose and committed to living a quiet life.

I also reflected on the past five years of my life and thought about things I wish I had done differently. One of those regrets has been living my life based on other people’s expectations of me. Past fear and hesitation often steered me away from embracing my true self and pursuing my goals.

But I am learning that dwelling on the past is not useful; learning from it is necessary. Therefore, I hope in the future, I will live more courageously aligned with my values, purpose and goals.
